The RGV District of the Texas Golden Gloves Athletic Association is a not for profit organization devoted to the education of health and fitness for young adults through organized amateur athletics.
The RGV District is one of eleven in Texas and helps serve hundreds of athletes within the Rio Grade Valley community. The Texas Golden Gloves organization has been actively supporting Texas athletes since 1936 and has touched the lives of many fine individuals. We provide core values to young people which strengthen their physical and mental abilities while giving them a sense of self worth and the opportunity to participate in advancing amateur sporting events.
We work together with more than 55 area boxing / MMA clubs and fitness centers to assist in educational programs which promote health, safety, and sportsmanship.
Each February we host an annual regional boxing tournament. We use the tournament to determine the best boxers and raise funding to send those top athletes to compete at the Texas State Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions in Ft. Worth. All eleven districts bring the finest athletes to compete for the opportunity of advancing as the title of National Golden Gloves Champions. In 2013 we expanded our programs to host an Annual Texas Junior Golden Gloves for young athletes ages 8 to16-years of age.
All coaches are trained/certified in proper coaching techniques and must pass a criminal background check every year through USA Boxing.
